HOW DOES THE MEDIK8 PEEL WORK?

The peel process involves applying a safe, high strength active acid to the skin. The solution gets to work in quick time removing dead skin cells, increasing skin cell regeneration, and boosting fibroblasts – the cells which produce collagen.

Medik8 Rewind Peel – If you’re concerned about signs of skin aging then the high strength Rewind Peel is for you. It kickstarts collagen production – the protein that gives skin its strength and elasticity – smooths and plumps the skin surface and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Medik8 Even Peel – If you suffer from uneven pigmentation, such as age spots, melasma or hyperpigmentation (patches of darker skin) caused by sun damage, Medik8’s Even Peel is the ideal treatment. It minimises melanin production, lightens dark patches and prevents further pigmentation forming.

Medik8 Universal AHA Peel – If you’ve never had a skin peel before, or want an effective post-peel course boost, then the Universal AHA peel is the ideal treatment. Its mild formula is suitable for all skin types and instantly revitalises and smooths facial skin. It’s also a great decongestant, deeply exfoliating pores and removing dead skin cells.

Medik8 Clarity Peel – The Clarity Peel has a dramatic improvement on acne-prone skin. If you have congestion, spots or large pores, this peel deep cleans and unblocks pores and sloughs away old skin cells – exposing new smooth skin cells underneath. It also prevents new spots forming and helps re-set skin cell turnover.

Medik8 Sensitive PHA – This peel is the perfect match for sensitive skin which reddens easily. Alongside boosting skin renewal, it provides deep exfoliation, decongesting and brightening the skin.

WHAT TO EXPECT

To start your skin improvement journey simply book a free pre-peel consultation at Enhance Beauty, Buckinghamshire. Where we will discuss your skin concerns and the results you want to achieve. To ensure you’re suitable for our bespoke chemical peel treatments, you’ll be given a skin patch test and asked about your medical history. We’ll also provide you with advice on how to prepare your skin before your first peel procedure and the pre-peel skincare solutions to use at home.

During your peel treatment, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed, and a pre-peel solution applied. Your peel is gently applied using a disposable soft brush. The peel is then left on for between one and 10 minutes, depending on the treatment you’re having. Once complete, a gentle neutralising solution is applied to your skin followed by a calming cleanser. A soft, damp gauze will then be placed on your face for a few minutes, followed by a soothing serum. The last touch is applying sunscreen protection.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL YOU NEED?

For best results, a minimum of 3 peels is recommended, approximately 10-14 days apart. Pre Peel and Aftercare products are required to prep the skin prior to treatment .

Q: How many bespoke Medik8 peels will I need?

The number of treatments depends on what you’re seeking treatment for and the overall condition of your skin. A course of the Medik8 ’12 Weeks to WOW!’ typically involves six peels taken at two-week intervals over 12 weeks.

Before each peel, we will discuss changes in your skin and select the most appropriate peel treatment for you.

Q: Is the peel painful?

'12 weeks to WOW’ skin peels are clinically designed to minimise irritation. Its time release formula slowly releases the active ingredient into the skin, so it is a comfortable experience. Plus, you can keep the peel on for longer.

Q: How do I care for my skin after the peel treatment?

Full after-care instructions will be provided at your consultation. We will also provide you with all the skincare solutions you need in the days after your peel, including soothing cleansers, skin serums and sunscreen. As well as supporting healing, this intensifies the results. Your skin should be treated gently afterwards (no abrasive face cloths or exfoliators). You should also wear a high protection sunscreen every day, even if it’s not sunny.

Q: Is ’12 Weeks to WOW!’ suitable for everyone?

As with most peel treatments, ‘12 Weeks to WOW!’ is not suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or undergoing cancer treatment. Some skin conditions also prevent treatment, such as if you’re prone to keloid scarring or skin allergies.
