You won’t need to do much preparation before your lip filler appointment, however, avoiding alcohol and ibuprofen for 24 hours before your appointment will help to reduce bleeding and bruising.

It is also important to note that you will not be able to have lip filler when you have an active cold sore. If you do have that, you will need to reschedule your appointment.

What is The Process Like?

Firstly, you will need to book an appointment.

Upon arrival, I will inform you about the lip filler process, answer any questions you have and we will speak about your desired results.

You will then be given the option of a numbing treatment which is a topical cream that is blessed on your lips.

It is absolutely possible to create a natural-looking look whilst using fillers and the main way that I do that is by injecting a small amount of lip filler into multiple points within the lips.

I will mark the areas of your lips to be injected and then with a very fine needle, I will inject the substance into your lips.

I may then massage the lips slightly to ensure that the filler is evenly distributed in all areas of the lips.

The process takes around 15 to 30 minutes and you will be able to go home the same day.

Whilst you’ll see results instantly with lip filler, you will have to wait until the swelling has gone down to see the final result.

What Aftercare Treatment Do You Need?

When it comes to after-care treatment, there aren’t many steps required after your treatment, however, you should keep these things in mind:

You may experience lip swelling within 2 to 3 days of having the treatment done. The swelling should all be gone after two weeks. Ice can be used to reduce swelling.
Avoid touching the area as this can affect the distribution of the filler and doing this will also prevent infection.
Stay hydrated.
Avoid vigorous exercise or anything that will increase blood flow to the face for at least 24 to 48 hours.
Try not to wear any makeup on your lips for 24 hours.

How Long Does Lip Filler Last?

Lip fillers are temporary and will last anywhere from 9 to 12 months. However, there are multiple ways that you make your lip filler results last a longer time.

Have a healthy balanced diet that is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. When the skin becomes inflamed by eating sugary or unhealthy foods it can quickly break down the filler in your skin.
Use rich topical creams to boost collagen.
Use SPF lip balms to help shield your lips from damaging UV rays.
Control your stress levels. The hormones that your body produces when stressed are thought to break down lip filler.

If you go longer than 12 months without a lip filler top-up then your lips will likely return to their original size. To keep a subtle looking look, make sure to regularly attend lip filler top-up appointments.
