Dermablading VS Dermaplaning: Is It Worth It?
Dermablading vs dermaplaning. What is the difference and is it really worth it?
This is the skincare treatment that is becoming increasingly popular and I am so here for it!
In this blog post, I explore the differences between dermablading vs dermaplaning, the benefits, and the treatment process.
Dermablading VS Dermaplaning
Dermablading and dermaplaning are the same thing, it’s just that different clinics use different words.
For the sake of this post, I’m going to use the word ‘dermaplaning.’
Dermaplaning is a way to remove the skin's top layer and the fine hairs on your face to create a fresh, smoother look.
This treatment can be carried out by itself or in combination with a facial to rejuvenate skin even further.
Many people love dermaplaning because it significantly improves the look of your skin when wearing makeup.
But here are some more benefits:
More youthful-looking skin
Peach fuzz is removed
Smoother skin
More even skin tone
The removal of bacteria prevents breakouts
It triggers skin regeneration
Allows for better product penetration
But you may be wondering, “Can’t I just shave instead?”
The difference between dermaplaning and shaving is that shaving only removes hair whereas dermaplaning exfoliates the skin and removes dead skin cells.
What Happens During The Treatment?
The standard treatment begins with a skin cleanse then your skin is prepped.
After your skin is ready, the dermaplaning process will start. This is where I will take a surgical scalp to remove fine hairs and dead skin cells.
The treatment is completely painless and will take around 45 minutes.
You will see results instantly.
Can All Skin Types Have Dermaplaning?
Whether you have dry, oily or combination skin, you can benefit from dermaplaning.
The only people I would recommend against getting dermaplaning are those who have active acne or an impaired skin barrier.
Dermaplaning can be a great treatment for both men and women.
What is Aftercare Like?
There isn’t that much after-care that goes into the dermaplaning treatment.
It is unlikely that you’re going to experience any side effects (other than smooth, glowing skin), but some people may have a little irritation. This should go away within a few hours.
During this time, I suggest avoiding make-up products and any skincare products that may cause irritation.
How Long Do The Effects Last?
The effects can last anywhere from 1 to 3 months depending on the rate at which your hair grows and how dry your skin is.
To get the best results and maintain them, I recommend booking an appointment each month.
